Privacy policy

Policy last updated: October 8, 2026.

Who is responsible

The Trio Tally website (triotally.com) and the Trio Tally Android app are created and run by Yaniv Hadad, who publishes the app on Google Play under the developer name Matana Productions. For any privacy question or request: contact@triotally.com.

In short

  • Player names and scores stay on your device and are never sent anywhere.
  • The site counts usage anonymously: how often it’s opened, how many games start and finish, and from which part of the world.
  • No cookies, no persistent ID, no ads, and no information is sold or passed on to others for marketing.

What stays on your device only

So a game can continue after the browser is closed, the browser’s storage keeps three things: the current game (names, colors, scores and move history), the chosen language, and whether the tutorial has been shown. Also kept are a small marker, which stops the same game from being counted twice in the site’s statistics, and a couple of small counters the game uses for itself, such as how many games were started. This information never leaves the device. You can delete it at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser settings.

What is sent to us

A short message is sent to the server at four moments: when the site opens, when a game starts, when a game ends with a winner, and when a new game starts before the previous one has ended. Each message includes only:

  • The game language, and the language of the browser or phone.
  • The device type: phone, tablet or computer.
  • The name of the site you came from, if you arrived through a link (only the site name, not the full address).
  • The game data itself: number of players, target score, number of rounds, game length in minutes, counts of moves and bonuses, the winner’s score and the lead over second place, and how many players were given a name (a number only, not the names).
  • An estimate of location: continent, country, region and city, an approximate position on the map (accurate to about 10 kilometers) and the time zone. The estimate is made by the hosting provider from the internet connection, when the message reaches the server.
  • The date and time, rounded to the full hour.

What is not collected

Names, any single player’s score, the device’s internet address (we don’t store it), email addresses (other than one you choose to add to a note), any device or user ID, and tracking across sites. There is no way to link two visits by the same person.

Notes and email for a reply

When you send us a note through the site, the text of the note is saved together with its type, the date, the game language, the device type, the game version, and the country and city estimated from the internet connection. A copy of the note is also emailed to the site’s owner. You can choose to add an email address to get a reply. In that case the address is saved with the note and used only to reply to you. Notes are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted automatically from the site’s database. The copy emailed to the owner is kept until it is deleted. To have a note and its emailed copy deleted sooner, write to contact@triotally.com.

Why

To understand how many people use the site, where and in which language, what can be improved, and to read and answer notes. The legal basis is a legitimate interest in improving the service, with minimal data and no personal identification. Storage on the device is needed for the game to work.

Hosting provider

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which carries the site’s traffic and protects it. To do so, Cloudflare processes the device’s internet address, under its own privacy policy. The internet address is also used briefly, in memory only, to limit abuse (for example, too many messages in a minute), and we do not store it. Our anonymous data and the notes are stored in a Cloudflare database in North America.

How long

The anonymous data and the notes are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted automatically.

Opting out

A browser with Global Privacy Control turned on sends no messages at all, and the game works as usual. Some browsers, including Chrome on Android, do not send this signal.

Your rights

Because the information sent is anonymous and cannot be linked to you, we have no way to find, hand over or delete the record of a specific person. The exception is a note you sent: write to contact@triotally.com and it will be deleted. You can delete the information on your device yourself at any time. For any question: contact@triotally.com. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

Children

The site and the app are not aimed specifically at children. They collect no personal information from anyone, of any age, beyond a note or an email address that you choose to send.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with the date of the update.
